~New York style cheesecake / Carrot cake~

I have (of course) been baking again, too. I really do love baking something for the German class every week. I like it that I get to bake also things that I might not really want to eat, but have wanted to bake. Two weeks ago I baked this New York style cheesecake. I am really not a big cheesecake lover, but Jo Wheatley had picked this as her baking challenge this time, so I thought I'd give it a go. Honestly, this must be the best cheesecake I have ever had! So smooth and delicious. I served it with some chopped strawberries and orange segments. Yum!

Olen tietenkin saanut vähän leivottuakin taas. Minusta on niin hirmuisen mukava leipoa aina jotakin saksantunneille joka viikko.  Kiva kun saa leipoa sellaisiakin juttuja joita en itse erityisemmin halua syödä, mutta joita on kiva kuitenkin leipoa. Pari viikkoa sitten tein tämän New Yorkin juustokakun. En tykkää juustokakuista erityisen paljon, mutta Jo Wheatley oli valinnut tämän viimeisemmäksi leipomishaasteeksi, joten pitihän se tekaista. Mutta ihan oikeasti, tämä on kyllä paras juustokakku IKINÄ! Aivan ihananmakuinen. Tarjoilin sen mansikoiden ja appelsiiniviipaleiden kanssa. Nam!

Last Thursday I then baked a carrot cake traybake. I am not the biggest fan of carrot cake either, but it was a bit hit with my fellow students. After I baked the cake, I then brushed it with orange syrup and topped with cream cheese (with orange zest) frosting.

Viime torstaina leivoin sitten porkkanakakun. En minä välitä porkkanakakustakaan erityisemmin, mutta muut opiskelijat tykkäsivät kyllä ihan älyttömästi. :) Kun otin kakun uunista, sen päälle tuli appelsiinisiirappi ja sitten tietenkin vielä tuo tuorejuustokuorrutus.

~Jamie's 15 minute meals: Beef kofta curry with fluffy rice, beans & peas~

Two weeks again I cooked this: beef kofta curry with fluffy rice, beans and peas. I did leave out the beans though as neither one of us likes them that much. The koftas were made with beef mince and lentils. I think it was quite a tasty dish!

Tämä oli vuorossa pari viikkoa sitten: naudanlihakofta curry, riisiä, papuja ja herneitä.. paitsi että minä jätin pavut pois koska ei me kumpikaan oikein niistä tykätä. Mutta ruoka oli tosi hyvää!

Tein tämän Jamie aterian jo kolme viikkoa sitten... vähän olen taas jäänyt jälkeen bloggailun kanssa. Ateria koostui siis keitetystä kanasta, vihanneksista, riisistä ja meksikolaistyylisestä mole kastikkeesta (johon tuli suklaata!). Täytyy sanoa että ei tästä kyllä ihan suosikkiruoka tullut. Minä ja ukko ei kumpikaan tykätty tuosta kastikkeesta ollenkaan. Yäk.

I made this Jamie dish already three weeks ago... definitely behind with blogging at the moment. Eek! This dish was made with poached chicken, veg, rice and mexican style mole sauce (which has chocolate in it. eek!). Unfortunately mr.P and I didn't really like the sauce at all. Yuck. Everything else was nice though.

~15 goals for the rest of the year~

update 6.8.2013

As I am fighting my anxiety, I need to try to do more things and really challenge myself. It is soooo hard to do things that scare me. I get anxious very very easily. So, I decided to make a list of goals that I am going to try to do before the year ends. A lot of them feel really scary to me, even though for most people they probably seem really easy.  Actually, there is only one thing on this list that doesn't make me anxious! Yaiks! Wish me luck. :)

1. go to five different op shops by myself
    -Brotherhood of St Laurence in Bentleigh (29.7.2013)
2. walk 50 000 steps (intentional exercising)
    -about 8000 steps done (keep forgetting to use the pedometer...)
3. make puff pastry (can be rough puff)
4. bake one of the ‘best of the bake off’ recipes (Aussie bake off cookbook)
    -baked Nancy's Dukkah and Macadamia bread. Super yummy! 4.8.2013
5. mail two surprise packages
6. lose 10kgs
7. take mr.P for our usual evening drive to Acland st.
8. get a hair cut + colour
    -Woohooo!!!! 1.8.2013
9. go eat lunch at a café by myself
10. get a visa for my passport
11. change curtains in one room
12. bake one of the technical challenge recipes (Aussie bake off cookbook)
      -baked coffee scrolls. Delicious! 6.8.2013 

13. create a cleaning kit for bathroom
14. get my eyes tested
15. go to my local health food shop by myself
